ABOUT CAROLINA
My name is Carolina Grunér and I am a self-taught painter from Finland. I have been painting pretty much full time since January 2013, when I, after seeing my life as I knew it fall apart, somehow got the courage to dare do what I had dreamed of doing since I was a child:
to paint with oils.
I had always been creative, but never dared finish a painting; always too afraid of ruining it. Let alone use oil paints. But the fact of losing what I had deemed as my safety, and realising I actually survived - and even thrived - without it, gave me the courage to dare fail. So I picked up a brush, dug up my untouched oil paints, and started painting. And it was like coming home. I felt like I was born to do this. Like this was my God given skill.
When painting, I trust the guidance of my intuition completely. This means that I simply follow the whispers of my intuition, keeping my focus on trusting, surrendering and on feeling where I am guided to go. Painting like this is my way of surrendering to something bigger than myself. Of letting that gift speak through me.
